Today, I watched Madaari and thought of giving it a review as I think this is one movie which everyone should see. This emotional cum social thriller not only shows the bond between father and a son but also about what happens when an ordinary man becomes a Madaari and makes the corrupt ministers and others dance to his tunes? This movie exhibits the rising levels of corruption in the country and passivity towards the common man who has been exploited by the politicians.

Directed by Nishikant Kamat, this is a thriller movie which will bind you till the very end. Our very own methodological actor Irrfan Khan is playing the role of a common man Nirmal Kumar in Madaari. He kidnaps Rohan (Vishesh Bansal), an eight-year-old son of Home Minister (Tushar Dalvi) from outside his boarding school. Well, why did he do that? For money? No, Then why did he kidnap that little kid?

Madaari is a story of a common man whose life gets upside down when he lost his only child in a bridge collapse. He holds the government responsible for it and decides to teach politicians a lesson. In order to take revenge, he kidnaps the son of the Home Minister. The Home Minister hands over the case to Chief Investigating Officer Nachiket Verma (Jimmy Shergill) to find the whereabouts of his missing child.

This movie Madaari has tried to send across a very strong message. This movie shows what will happen if the common man decides to take law and order in his hands and chooses to punish the system himself. The movie is a bit stretched as its touching too many issues prevailing in the country like corrupt politicians, farmer suicides, price hikes, faulty infrastructure etc.

Despite some flaws, its still a brilliant take on the director’s part to make such a movie with absolutely mind blowing performances by Irrfan Khan and Jimmy Sheirgill. Irrfan Khan, who is enacting the role of a single father, has once again delivered an amazing performance. Maybe it’s his career’s best performance till date. But again, in sometime, his another movie will come and we will say this is his best role till date. Like an old wine, his acting prowess just gets better and better with time. This is because he is one of the finest actor the nation has. Jimmy Sheirgill who has played the role of an honest cop fits into the role perfectly. I somehow feel Jimmy Sheirgill is a great actor and has not got his due yet.

While the first half of the movie is powerful, the second half is a bit stretched and predictable but the emotional crime drama unravels like a thriller and the climax of the movie is quite dramatic. Overall, I give three and half stars to this movie.

Hope you guys enjoyed reading it!
