We all know that skin hydration is vital to a lovely, flawless and beautiful skin. Hydrated skin feels and look smooth, radiant and has an even tone to it. But we often tend to forget that we need to take care of our skin a lot to keep it hydrated. Just moisturizing our skin once a day with any face cream won’t help at all.
So, what is the right way and how to keep your skin hydrated?
Follow the steps mentioned below to keep it hydrated and you will begin to notice the difference in your skin soon.
KEEP YOUR SKIN HYDRATED THE RIGHT WAY
DRINK LOTS OF WATER
This is one of the most important steps to keep your skin hydrated. Try drinking lots of water as water is the key to healthy hydrated skin. If you drink maybe eight or more glasses of water in a day, it will keep your skin hydrated, plump and healthy. In case if you can’t drink water alone, then mix some cucumbers or lemons in your water to add fresh taste to the plain water. Lemon water not only helps to keep your skin hydrated but also flushes out the toxins.
USE A MOISTURIZER
What be your skin type, just use a mositurizer. If you have got a dry, oily, sensitive or combination skin, just use a good quality moisturizer with hydrating ingredients. Just putting on lots of moisturizer or cream is not enough if your skin is lacking moisture. Rather, check out moisturizer which is formulated with hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C, which is known for its hydrating qualities. You can also go for water-based moisturizer which provides all day long lasting hydration.
APPLY MOISTURIZER TO DAMP SKIN ONLY
How you apply moisturizer is also very important. The best way to do apply moisturizer on your skin is to by slathering on your moisturizer when your skin is damp to help lock in hydration. Applying moisturizer right after your step out of your bathroom is the best. And apply it all over your body and not only on your face. You can also apply generous amount of moisturizer on your hands and feet during night before going to bed. After applying moisturizer or cream, wear a pair of gloves and socks. This will lead to softer and hydrated hands and feet.
SKIP THE LONG STEAMY SHOWERS
Long and steamy hot showers strip your skin off of essential moisturizers which leads to dry skin. Have bath in lukewarm water and apply moisturizer when your skin is moist post bathing.
WATER RICH FOODS
You can try foods that contain mostly water. This will help in hydrating your body. Eat water-dense fruits and veggies such as berries, watermelon, plums, peaches, cucumbers, celery, bell peppers, and lettuce.
USE A HYDRATING MASK
If you feel your skin is way too dry, then you can try using a hydrating mask on top of your serum/cream. This mask helps in creating a barrier and forces the moisturizing ingredients in your serum/cream to penetrate skin.
A DEEP CLEAN FACE
You can use a deep cleaning brush to apply your cleanser on your skin. This will help the skin care and body care products to penetrate beneath the surface so they hydrate at a deeper level.
Exfoliation is the key if you want to get the best results. If you are using the best products but still not getting the results, thats because the hydrators which you are applying is not getting penetrated into the skin. And this inturn is not giving you the best results. Here comes the role of exfoliation. Exfoliation helps in removing the bad skin cells from the top layer of skin, which are preventing the skin-care ingredients from doing their job. You can use a exfoliation scrub every other night and make sure to use cream post that. Once you’ve exfoliated, always apply a water-attracting treatment next.
FACIAL SPRAY HELPS
Applying a facial spray on your face helps your skin a lot in keeping it fresh and glowing. It is a more direct way to impact your skin. You can go for The BodyShop Vitamin E Hydrating Face Mist. I swear by it as it’s one of the best in the market. This Vitamin E Hydrating Face Mist is an excellent skin refresher. Just spritz it on to moisturize, protect your skin as well as to set your makeup. This spray is infused with Vitamin E to protect your delicate skin against the damaging environmental elements like pollution, and smoke. This one is infused with hydrating rosewater which helps to lock in moisturise, is suitable for every skin type, and I highly recommend it.
HYDRATING EYE CREAM
You must have noticed that your skin around the eye area is the thinnest as compared to the whole face. This is why this area is more prone to fine lines, wrinkles and crow lines. Using a light, hydrating gel eye cream in your daily skin-care routine helps to keep this delicate area hydrated and smooth. You can use The Body Shop Vitamin E Eyecream. This is a great eyecream which helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and under eye dark circles. It’s a great formula which hydrates and smoothes the delicate skin around the eyes. It’s one of the best and I use it too and hence recommend too.
