Dhaba by Claridges is located on second floor near 80 ft road in the happening area of Indira Nagar, Bangalore. This Dhaba styled restaurant, now managed by Azure hospitality serves authentic Punjabi food.
As we entered Dhaba by Claridges, we were greeted and seated right away. I was amazed to see the interiors of the restaurant oozing Dhaba feel in a total Punjabi way. The bright yellow painted walls have quirky truck designs and taglines all across the walls. The restaurant has hanging lights hung irregularly from the ceilings thus creating a magical effect. The restaurant has well spaced seating arrangement with old fashioned chairs and tables. And the Bollywood chart busters playing in the background definitely sets your mood as you sit and make yourself comfortable.
One side of the restaurant is completely dedicated to a bar. The bar has been designed to give a theka type feel having an array of cocktails which are named as ‘tharra’. This theka is well stocked with imported liquor and signature cocktails specialty tharras which come in actual Pauva bottles! Cool right!!
There is a comforting open kitchen area too.
“With a menu that carries The Claridges’ legacy of almost 30 years forward, the dishes brim with authentic flavours reminiscent of North Indian road trips. Chef Ravi Saxena’s mantra in the kitchen is : premium fresh ingredients, prepared using simple Dhaba-like methods to produce simple, honest and tasty food.”
We started off with Mocktails where I had a glass full of Shikangi (fondly known as Banta bottles in Delhi! and yes, I had Shikangi after ages literally) and my hubby had a glass full of Nimbu Soda Lemon. Both the Shikangi and the Nimbu Soda were incredibly fresh and refreshing to say the least and perfect thing to have with starters. For starters, we had Tandoori annanaas, chicken tikka, Amritsari Kukkad, Amritsari fish tikka, Mutton Seekh Kebabs which comes with raw onions and green chutney.
A special mention goes here to the mutton seekh kebabs which were so soft that just one bite of them and they literally melted in our mouths. The Tandoori annannaas and chicken tikka were mouthwatering too. The chicken was perfectly roasted and was grilled spicy and crispy. The paneer pieces were soft served in a rich gravy. The Machhli Di Tikki was again very soft and delicious and cooked to perfection. All these starters were served with onion, tomato, spices and green chutney.
Mutton Seekh Kebabs- Highly Recommended
