My today’s post is on Beauty Oils for Skin and Hair. Many people are under this perception that applying oil on the skin will lead to breakouts and hence they avoid oil. But in reality, if you don’t apply oil on your skin, then your skin becomes dry and flaky and produces more sebum than usual. This is because lack of oil leads to production of excess sebum and hence results in acne. Oils provide skin the much needed moisture, helps to fight acne, and regulate the overproduction of oil from the skin. But you need to understand the proper way of using beauty essential oils to get the utmost benefit. Read on to know the best oils available and how to use them.

When to Use Oil on Skin?

Because, Avocado oil and coconut oil are on the heavier side, so these oils should be used on skin only at night. During day time, one should stick to a oil that get absorbed quickly into the skin quickly and won’t leave you feel sticky. But avoid using oil during day totally if you plan to use a foundation else it will break down your makeup which is something you wouldn’t want. Also,applying certain oils like lemon oil and grapefruit essential oil during day can make your skin to become inflamed and red as these oils are photosensitive and react to light.

Which Oil to use for skin and hair?

People with dry skin should use stick to Avocado oil as it helps to soften and moisturize the skin and reduced the appearance of age spots. While people with oily, combination skin or acne-prone skin should use Jojoba oil as it gets absorbed into the skin quickly and provide nutrients sub-dermal and also tricks the skin into believing that it’s produced enough oil. And when it comes to hair, people with fine hair should use almond or castor oils which makes the hair shine without looking too heavy. And those with dry, damaged and coarse hair should go for Argan oil or Avocado oil as this will nourish the hair without making it feel sticky.



Beauty Oils for skin and hair and their uses

1. Argan oil:

This is my favorite oil and is extracted from the kernels of the Argan tree found in Morocco. It is one of the best oils for hair and skin. Argan oil is rich in vitamin E and used to hydrate and soften dry skin. It is not at all greasy or irritating. Take some argan oil and gently rub in circular motions on your face, neck and body until it gets absorbed into the skin. Argan oil is very effective hair conditioner and makes hair softer, silkier and shinier. You can use Argan Oil as a night moisturizer, in case of razor bumps and burn, for Stretch Marks, for body exfoliation, for extremely dry hair and dry hands, brittle nails, hard skin on feet.

2. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has umpteen benefits and is a multi purpose oil. It acts as an effective moisturizer for dry skin and keeps hair healthy and shiny. Coconut oil is used as a lip balm for treating chapped lips, for softening cracked cuticles, use it to ward off stretch marks, use it as a deodorant too by rubbing a little amount of oil under your arms. 

3. Olive Oil:

This oil is loaded with regenerative properties and Vitamin E and antioxidants. Olive oil contains vitamin E which is an antioxidant that protects the skin from various external factors. Enrich your hair with moisture by applying olive oil to them. Also, olive oil helps in removing lice from the head. You can also apply it on face to clear your face from acne. It also improves nail health, strengthens bones and treats depression.

4. Tea Tree Oil:

Tea tree oil is effective in treating acne and other skin infections, softening the cuticles, soothing cold sores, relives athlete’s foot, fights foot odor, eliminates toe fungus and yeast infections and itching.

5. Jojoba Oil:

Jojoba oil is a botanical extract of the seed of the Jojoba tree. This oil regulates sebum in skin and is loaded with anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. This oil is a very good moisturizer, skin softener, a perfect lip and hair conditioner. Apply this oil to dry and frizzy hair helps to make hair manageable and tangle free. 

6. Grape Seed Oil:

Obtained from the seeds of grape, this oil has great moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties and provides immense relief from pain. This oil is mildly astringent in nature and helps to tighten and tone the skin and helps in healing wounds. 

7. Eucalyptus Oil: 

This oil helps in keeping skin softblemish free, cleanses the body of toxins and acts as a perfect hair moisturizer too. It is a natural insect repellent and a healing herb that has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. 

8. Chamomile Oil: 

Chamomile helps to control acne and inflammation and helps in removing crow’s feet and dark circles around the eyes. Using this oil keeps skin even toned, young and refreshing. This oil has great effect on blonde hair too. Accentuate those blonde highlights of your hair by adding few drops of chamomile oil to your coconut and apply it on your hair and give them great shine. Also, this oil has  nerve sooothing properties and the aroma of this oil calms you and uplifts your mood.

9. Lavender Oil: 

Lavender oil has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties that helps to treat acne and eczema and also helps in detoxifying the skin. Use of this oil on the scalp can help combat hair loss. It helps in treating itching and swelling too.

10. Rosemary Oil:

This is one of the best beauty oils for skin and hair both. Massaging the skin with Rosemary oil helps in toning and re hydrating the skin. This oil has skin regeneration properties which treats skin’s damaged tissues and helps in reducing scars and spots. Also helps in hair growth.This is an aromatic herb which helps to boost immune system, improve memory, soothe digestive system and relieve muscle aches. 

11. Peppermint Oil: 

Again one of the best beauty oils for skin and hair. This oil has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties which helps in keeping skin cool. It also helps in getting rid of dandruff and lice from the scalp. This oil also helps in oil secretion in skin and therefore regular use of this oil helps in preventing acne and also heals cracked lips. A great oil which provides relief from stomach aches and is also used in aromatherapy as it is effective in relieving anxiety, improving memory and raising alertness.

12. Ylang-Ylang Oil: 

A great essential oil is excellent for hair growth. Ylang-Ylang is helpful in lowering blood pressure, provides relief from stress, reduces head lice, improves mood, calms irritability and boosts relaxation.
